Brain Dead

February 11th, 2007 by queenz

why cant i love "studying for exams?" - like serioulsy?? ive been reading the same word on my handout for the last 2.5hrs and good ‘ol me cant even remember the word!

here i go again - im already imagining myself banging my head on the wall for registering for another Cardiology Class (i mean for any class for that matter actually… ).. here i am having a studying-for-mid-term crisis!

*Gawd!* why is my brain so dead lately???

workaholic not

October 25th, 2006 by queenz
let’s see now, after working for so many consecutive days i dont know how to spend my upcoming days off anymore! *harhar!* i havent really had any decent days off this month.. im glad i wont be back to work in the hospital until next Monday.. It was a good thing that Velma was able to find someone to work my night shift tomorrow.. im just really exhausted.. *yawns* im so ready to hit the bed any minute now…

I am not a workaholic but I find that once I get myself into that woking mood - i could keep on working until i drop.. but then, once I get a break - expecially a long one like a week, I can be as lazy as one can be! Looking at my October calendar - surprisingly I’ve only had 4 days off so far! and what that means - I have no life but work these days! *crazeh!* I need to treat myself for working so hard! Maybe I should splurge into some clothes shopping or something… but the weird thing is I dont even feel like going out - I just wanna stay at home and sleep, relax..

whatever, i always contradict myself..
the bottom line is - im sleeping in tonight!! *yahooo!*

Tada!

                 Go Get Your Mammies Grammed!

For years and years they told me,
                        Be careful of your breasts.
Don’t ever squeeze or bruise them.
                       And give them monthly tests.
So I heeded all their warnings,
                        And protected them by law.
                       Guarded them very carefully,
And I always wore my bra.
After 30 years of astute care,
                            My gyno, Dr Pruitt,
Said I should get a Mammogram
"OK," I said, "let’s do it."
"Stand up here real close" she said,
(She got my boob in line),
"And tell me when it hurts," she said,
"Ah yes! Right there, that’s fine."
                         She stepped upon a pedal,
I could not believe my eyes!
A plastic plate came slamming down,
                           My hooters in a vise!
My skin was stretched and mangled,
                         >From underneath my chin.
My poor boob was being squashed,
                         To Swedish Pancake thin.
                         Excruciating pain I felt,
                        Within it’s viselike grip.
A prisoner in this vicious thing,
                         My poor defenseless tit!
"Take a deep breath," she said to me,
Who does she think she’s kidding?!?
My chest is mashed in her machine,
                          And woozy I am getting.
"There, that’s good," I heard her say,
                      (The room was slowly swaying.)
"Now, let’s have a go at the other one."
                        Have mercy, I was praying.
It squeezed me from both up and down,
It squeezed me from both sides.
I’ll bet SHE’S never had this done,
                        To HER tender little hide.
Next time that they make me do this,
                        I will request a blindfold.
I have no wish to see again,
                     My knockers getting steam rolled.
If I had no problem when I came in,
                          I surely have one now.
If there had been a cyst in there,
                       It would have gone "ker-pow!"
This machine was created by a man,
Of this, I have no doubt.
I’d like to stick his balls in there,
And, see how THEY come out!

The different kinds of Nurses

March 19th, 2005 by queenz

*note: this is also posted on my website: http://www.queenz.4t.com*

For the lack of anything better to blog about, or rather because i’ve been such a keen observer at work, i’ve decided to group the nurses at work under the following groups.. however, if you must know too, i’ve been upset these past few days with a nurse at work only because she doesnt do her job very well, at times doesnt do her job at all.. These groups are not a product of that anger however.. These groupings refer to the Registered Nurses. The nurse who im still upset with is a Registered Practical Nurse.

The LAID-BACK nurses: These are usually the male nurses. They come in no earlier than 7:30am, at times even at a later time. Some of them, because they’re so laid back stir up some anxieties when they’re not around until after 8:00am that we have to phone them up in their house to remind them that they are actually supposed to work on that day (yes, unfortunately it happens every now and then).. Even when they’re late, they usually finish (or do they really?) whatever they need to do, or atleast most of the things they need to do right away and are usually the first ones to go for their coffee breaks or to go home.. They dont panic when their patients become unstable or even when the "crash-cart" is not around when they’re so close to calling a Code Blue (or Cardiac Arrest).. They’re just cool. More often than not, patients of these nurses are in total disarray when you find them after the end of their shifts.

The METICULOUS nurses: These are usually the female nurses, but not all. They come in early to prepare their day. They "try" to be organized and usually does a very thorough job.. Sometimes they are so thorough they create their own issues with their own patients.. These are the nurses who usually go for only 30 minute breaks during their entire 12 hour shifts and are usually the last ones to go home. They are very hard-working. You will usually see them running around and do not ask for your help when you offer. But they are very reliable and you can definitely ask them for help. They panic the second their patients become unstable. They become so anxious you would think that they need to be in bed more than their patients. They also talk a lot and sometimes you can get a terrible headache once you hear them speak. Most nurses avoid them. Patients of these nurses are perfectly clean and usually happy.

The "CHU-CHU" nurses: Unfortunately, these are usually the white nurses who appear very friendly infront but silently watches every move you make and reports any mistakes you make right away to the supervisor. Some of them are in "your-face" kinda nurses, they will let you know what you’ve done wrong no matter where you are and no matter who’s around. Sometimes they are also the "you-cant-mess-up-with-me" nurses! They are smart and more often than not are also quite thorough with their jobs but that’s only because they make sure they have the "lightest" patient assignment; therefore making their job a lot easier. If incase they happen to get a heavy assignment, you can definitely predict that they will complain. They are also the "know-it-all" nurses obviously. Patients of these nurses are usually independent or stable enough to be at home.

The PASSIVE nurses: These are usually the new recruits. They wanna make a good impression by not complaining. So no matter how many patients you give them or no matter how heavy their assignments are, it’s ok and wonderful. However, they do make some safe comments at times, but only to those nurses who are also new or nurses they know can sympathize with them. They usually come in early at work and hope to get a head start because more often than not, they know the possiblities of having a busy and rough day at work are endless. They try to be as efficient as much as they can by completing most of their tasks. They try to be reliable and most often are generally flexible and can give you a hand if you need it. In an extremely busy situation, they put on a smiling face but you know inside of them they are cursing. Patients of these nurses are usually the heaviest, the complete-care if you must, the most unstable or the most complicated.

The INDIFFERENT nurses: These are usually the casual nurses.. With that, I meant nurses who dont work as much, or the "stand-by" nurses.. They usually get 5-8 shifts in a month, only because they are busy with school or other work and are only around at work for some extra cash.. Most of them are hard working too but are more laid back than the meticulous group. They are quite reliable and tends to do a good job. Patients of these nurses can be just anything.

So, these are just the general groups that i find at work.. if you’re wondering which group i belong to - im unfortunately among the many passive nurses.

super duper exhaustion!

March 18th, 2005 by queenz

2 weeks ago i worked 6 long hours shift at work even when i was sick to death but i did not feel as exhausted as yesterday after 2 long hour shift work.. *mhan!* i’ve never felt so exhausted since my highschool intrams where we had sport fest and CAT drill.. i had to seriously crawl to our house’s door! i dont even know how i managed to drive home.. when i hit the bed last night, within split seconds i was daed and already sound asleep! my whole body was just crying out in ache…

having said that, it only meant that i had a rough day at work yesterday.. my patient assignment was crazy! it was extremely heavy but because i didnt wanna slack off and wanted to be as efficient as i possibly could, i tried my best to complete all the tasks that i needed to do..

so.. i woke up today at 1130am, yet i still feel exhausted… i think im hitting the bed again..
